Case Studies: Corporate Aircraft
Bahrain Defence Force

Project:

The brief was to install a VIP interior into the RJ100 for a Prestigious Middle Eastern VIP carrier The deliverables within this project were to incorporate a large, mid cabin lavatory with adjacent closet. The project also included two luxurious four seat L-shaped leather divans with fold out hi-lo tables and two principal VIP seats and side ledges with pull-out tables. In addition, various other modifications to the existing galley and stowage equipment were undertaken including the provision for a top of the range in flight entertainment system.

Challenge:
MAC Interiors encountered a problem with fitting the central lavatory due to the placement of the wing fixings and the fuel tank which meant there were height restrictions for the lavatory. To overcome this issue we engineered a lavatory unit independent from the closet, which also allowed us to ingeniously convert the space in between the lavatory and the closet into a luxurious changing area.

Clever use of seat track attachments meant a minimal need to attach fittings to the aircraft structure, which meant that we did not require additional approvals.

The problems associated with veneer and the stringent flammability requirements were overcome by the use of the new innovative dip film process.

Result:
MAC Interiors were employed to manage this project from conception to completion, carrying out the design work, engineering, manufacture and installation. Our highly skilled project management team provided round the clock support and management to ensure the project was completed on time, using the highest qualities of leather and other decorative materials.

“We envisaged this project would be relatively straightforward, however the requirement for a central lavatory meant that there would be a number of complications with the positioning equipment around the fuel tank and wing fixings. We overcame this by proposing ingenious additional ideas to the customer, while remaining within their specific requirements. This allowed the lavatory design to be slightly adjusted to incorporate the inherent aircraft structure.” Roger Patron, Commercial Director, MAC Aircraft Interior Specialists
