MacCarthy Aviation has been awarded a significant contract from Loftleidir, a part of the Icelandair group to refurbish two B767-300ER aircraft.

The contract is to completely refurbish two ship sets of galleys and to provide uplift kits for twelve lavatories. The work package for the galleys consists of; deep cleaning, replacement of any damaged parts, treat any corrosion, check and test all electrical wiring and plumbing.   The lavatory kits designed, manufactured and certified by MacCarthy will include; Corian worktop, stainless steel basin, toilet shroud, faucet, amenity and vanity units, LED lighting, mirror, electric flush switch plus many more features across both business and economy class lavatories.

Mark Radford Sales & Marketing Director commented, “We are delighted to work with Icelandair on this program, which further demonstrates our expertise in this growing market for galley and lavatory refurbishment work packages. This short flow programme further demonstrates our flexibility and will utilise designs currently in place saving time and money for the customer ensuring they receive the equipment with a new lease of life and years of continued service ahead of them.

We are seeing more and more twin aisle work, especially B767 aircraft, coming through our factory for galley and lavatory uplift. 2013 will be another busy year with a healthy order-book of galley refurbishment, lavatory upgrade and VIP interior work.”

Both aircraft are currently under lease to carrier Air Niugini

Visit MacCarthy at Aircraft Interiors Expo

MacCarthy Aviation are exhibiting at Aircraft Interiors Expo, Hamburg on 9-11th April and are located on Stand B98 in Hall 6.

MacCarthy Aviation have been refurbishing and re configuring aircraft since 1962 and during the last few years we have seen a significant requirement for our galley refurbishment and lavatory uplift services for Airbus and Boeing aircraft. At AIX 2012 we showcased an A330 lavatory which as a direct result of exhibiting, a few months later we announced an order worth in excess of £5 million pounds – the single largest order in the company’s history.  The order was for the refurbishment of Airbus lavatories for 32 aircraft. During 2012 and into 2013 we have seen a significant increase in B767 lavatory inquiries and subsequent orders, so at this years show we are presenting a fully refurbished B767 M8 unit our stand in Hall 6 B98.

The M8 unit will showcase MacCarthy’s diverse manufacturing capability, complete with signature Corian work tops, EMTEQ LED lighting and back lit engraved mirror. Two new products designed and manufactured by MacCarthy are a new moulded PanGuard from materials supplied by industry leaders Schneller and a revolutionary new toilet shroud.

The PanGuard will enhance the look of the lavatory but will also ensure maintenance costs are kept down due to its durability. MacCarthy will be installing the new PanGuard into seventy lavatories for a fleet of B767’s for a European customer in early 2013, as part of a fleet upgrade programme.

The one piece colour moulded toilet shroud has been designed and developed by MacCarthy Aviation over the last six months and is in the process of being certified ready for delivery to the launch customer by the end of March. The benefits of this all new shroud are a reduction in weight, increased durability and cheaper than current market offerings and will enhance an already strong portfolio of products from MacCarthy.

MacCarthy have also been using Corian for galley and lavatory worktops for a number of years and is now a standard product for lavatory refurbishment and uplift projects, so at this year’s show we have made our own bar complete with a stunning Corian worktop. Corian is extremely versatile and coupled with its extremely low maintenance costs and wipe clean surface it makes it ideal for demanding areas of an aircraft.
