![]() Last year MAC Aircraft Interior Specialists were chosen to convert to VIP a BAe RJ100 for a prestigious middle eastern VIP carrier. Following that they were picked to convert to VIP an RJ70 for a prestigious Bulgarian customer and they are currently working on the second of two aircraft for Dubai Air Wing. Recently MAC Interiors has been chosen to carry out a VIP conversion for Amiri Flight for an RJ100. 'Inside Out' spoke to Roger Patron, Commercial Director about the projects and why MAC Interiors is the 'supplier of choice' for refurbishment of the RJ aircraft. "Of course from our perspective it is simple to see why we were chosen to carry out these projects. We are not only skilled in VIP refurbishment and new build, but we also have many high profile commercial customers. We have an insight into the business that many of our competitors do not have, along with highly experienced and skilled staff. So we are able to provide work of the highest quality whilst remaining affordable." "The Project for the prestigious middle eastern VIP carrier was a challenging one. We had a number of restrictions such as height and space that we had to overcome, particularly as we had to include a mid-cabin lavatory unit with adjacent closet where the wing fixings and fuel tanks were obstructing the design. Using our experience of aircraft refurbishment we were able to ingeniously design a lavatory which, not only fitted with the customer's requirements but totally exceeded them when the final design that we created also included a luxurious dressing area." Roger expands on MAC's RJ focus: "Whilst work on the RJ100 was still going on, we were approached by Inflite Engineering and employed to install a complete VIP interior into the BAe 146 RJ70 for a prestigious Eastern European customer. The interior of this aircraft was originally a 70 seat commercial aircraft and was re-designed to consist of two luxurious leather divans, individual VIP seats, a central 42 inch television and ambient lighting." "This aircraft was great to work with as we were able to save the customer time and money by refurbishing some parts of the aircraft so that they retained their original certification. We also incorporated electronically operated doors into the bar that leads through to the cabin area. The extended lavatory has a large curved wall which meant it was not possible to raise the toilet seat so our designers worked to find a suitable solution, which was engineering a goose-neck hinge system so that the toilet lid could move correctly." At the moment MAC are working on the second of two aircraft for Dubai Air Wing. "For this project we have been tasked with refurbishing the two front galleys and replacing the two rear galleys with new build units. MAC has also been employed to produce a VIP cabin area and VIP lavatory and toilets for the second aircraft. On all three projects we used the finest materials such as Townsend leathers, Corian surfaces and hand painted finishes throughout the aircraft. Our teams worked extensively to ensure the interior of all these aircraft is aesthetically pleasing and at the pinnacle of design within the confines of airworthiness approvals." |
MAC Interiors have successfully completed our sixth Boeing 767 lavatory refresh and upgrade modification for Transaero Airlines, the Russian low cost carrier. This project follows on from the seven lavatory upgrades MAC Interiors have previously completed for First Choice Airways.
Stephen Whittaker, Managing Director of MAC Interiors explains that there are methods to improve tired lavatories without incurring massive costs, "There are thousands of intensively used aircraft flying that could benefit from a lavatory refurbishment or uplift. These items suffer extremely heavy use, corrode and quickly look second-hand. We are able to refurbish a lavatory module for a fraction of the cost to manufacture and design a new lavatory. We use the latest materials, such as Corian surfaces, for finishes that can transform a lavatory to help enhance the customer experience."
